What is there to say about Tanzania? First of all we didn't realize until after we have been greeting people of the village that we were actually saying it wrong the whole time!! Apparently Tanzanians only say jambo to white people because that's the only thing they know how to say. The correct greeting is acutally hujambo... nice to know. When we go to town, we're the main attraction. Everybody wants to shake our hands and yell OBAMA!!!! Unfortunately our swahili is very limited so when we say hujambo to people they assume that we are fluent and start talking in full on swahili, but sadly hi is the only thing we know so we just have to smile and walk away. The children LOVE us and follow us around like little ducklings holding our hands and walking us to our destination.

At camp, the faculty and staff are always excited to teach us new sayings and words in swahili. Our favorite is Bura, one of the security guards, who breaks out in song and does a spot on hyena impression along with many other local animals.

We have managed to play a lot of soccer with the locals. Unfortunately, our only strategy is to run up to the person with the ball and make intense faces to distract them because we have no skills whats so ever in the soccer department. Fortunately though our strategy seems to work. All of the local kids like to join in when they see us playing and even the 2 year olds have more skill than us.

Classes so far have been really cool. The material so far is really easy, but their accents are so thick that it makes it a million times harder to understand. We figure eventually we'll get used to it, hopefully sooner than later.

Unfortunately our internet access is really limited so we won't be able to update everyone as much as we like. But, we will try our best to update as soon as possible.  Kwahiri!!!
